House building in 2018

Now more than ever, housing is needed in the streets of the UK. Housing remains at the top of the government’s agenda, and despite a shaky start at the beginning of 2018, it’s clear that everyone is aware of the importance of the housing situation. In 2018 the market is expected to grow somewhere in the region of 2-5% However, there is a lack of labour and experience in the housing sector, meaning that there is a danger of subpar housing being built, or delays in plans to build more housing.One of the solutions comes from the plant hire industry, who have professionals ready and willing to come forward and start building as soon as they’re given the green light. At the end of 2017, the government committed £34m to developing construction skills across the country, which means that more people have the opportunity to really become professionals in their trades.

Housing building activity hit an all-time low back in January, but the government decided to try and hit a target to build 300,000 properties by the end of the year. The UK’s £100bn housing sector supports 2.1 million jobs, and with the rise in housing needs and plans to build more housing, this could mean even more jobs in the housing sector for individuals of the construction trade that are looking for more permanent work.Barrats have recorded the largest half a year profit.

Working in the housing sector means working for the full cycle of a property’s development, and includes sustainable and affordable housing, as well as larger properties like blocks of flats. There are a lot of challenges in the housing sector at the moment, and it looks like it’s going to be a tough year overall considering the current figures, but the housing sector are fighting to ensure that the necessary buildings are being planned and built, and that are economy can survive this housing crash that we’re experiencing.It’s with the help of the construction sector that the housing sector can thrive. Construction workers and companies in the plant hire industry all understand that there is a need for innovative ideas to carry us through this particularly difficult time. Construction needs to be more accessible to companies who could easily be working on any number of the projects that haven’t yet even begun their basic stages.

After the planning is finished, and the contracts are confirmed, what we need is construction teams with good work ethics who are willing to go the extra mile to complete these projects.
